Sanctionary will now also act as one “contiguous, seamless landmass,” according to Blizzard, saying it’ll feature areas such as the desert-based Kejhistan, the forests of Scosglen and the wilderness of the Dry Steppes. The first Diablo 4 beta is coming in November 2022, Blizzard announced in a new blog post, but the action-RPG’s beta comes with some strict sign-up requirements. Players within Diablo 4 will have the chance to play they want to play within the shared world of Sanctionary, as well as encounter other players to take on missions and challenges within the game or turn on them.

The debut trailer for the game showed four combatants making their way through a dungeon for loot, only for attempts to leave one of them behind being in vein, with the group offered up as sacrifices for the resurrection of Lilith, who will act as the new Diablo. Blizzard has officially announced Diablo 4 at the start of its Blizzcon keynote, promising a return to the series’ darker roots.
